My favorite commercial from the Super Bowl, starring one of my favorite actors, Clint Eastwood. The commercial talks about the tough times we've been going through and how America has always bounced back. Some nice scenes from my hometown (Detroit). Clint's movie "Gran Torino", was filmed in and around Detroit.

Congratulations Vince Nihipali Sr.!

The Hawaii Carpenters Union last night honored Vince Nihipali Sr. of VNC Drywall with its 2012 Outstanding Union Builder Award at a reception hosted by the Pacific Resource Partnership (PRP) at the Oahu Country Club. Congratulations to Vince! Vince is also President of the Hawaii Walls and Ceilings Industry Association.

Hispanic Population Growing in Hawaii

An interesting article from Hispanic Business.com, on the increasing Hispanic population in Hawaii. Of special interest, is the quote at the end of the story: "A lot of my Mexican customers have gone," she said. "They left because there was no construction." It's a simple reminder of how construction helps all businesses grow.

After 40-Year Battle, Train May Roll for Oahu

The Honolulu Rail was in the NY Times yesterday. I'm hoping that it proceeds as quickly as possible. We've had years for the naysayers to get their piece in and it's time to move forward. There should be no more delays and anyone who continues to protest should be cast aside at this point. Their time has come and already gone.

Here's wishing good luck to my old college team, Wayne State University, playing in the NCAA Division II Football Championship game The Warriors will be playing the Pittsburgh State Gorillas for the DII Crown at 11:00am EST this morning. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN 2. Good Luck Warriors! Go Get Em!
